菩萨蛮创作背景

这首词是宋代词人郭应祥所作。郭应祥 lived in the Southern Song Dynasty and was a native of Linjiang (present-day Zhangshu, Jiangxi). He once served as an official in Quanjiang (present-day Suichuan, Jiangxi). This poem was written when the poet was away from home, living as an official in Quanjiang. By the time he wrote this poem, he had already spent three Dragon Boat Festivals in Quanjiang. Seeing the lively scene of the dragon boat race, he thought of his hometown in Zi Gan and the old days when he used to enjoy the boat race with his family and friends. He also missed the singer back home who could sing the tune "Bodhisattva Barbarian," hence the title of this poem. This poem not only depicts the excitement of the dragon boat race but also expresses the poet's deep nostalgia.
